Egyptian cotton is one of the most popular types of cotton in the world and it has consistently been in this envious position for the past two centuries. It is Egypt’s biggest competitive advantages in the world. It is considered to be the best fabric with its softness, strength and superior characteristics.
The Egyptian cotton is made from longer stable fiber cotton. If this cotton is processed properly, then the fabric made from it gets softer with each consequent wash instead of piling that tends to happen with shorter fiber cotton yarn.
Egyptian Cotton is generally used for making towels and bathrobes. The main advantage of this fabric is its higher water absorption capability especially if the fabric density/weight is high. These bathrobes are commonly found in spas and five star hotels. Egyptian cotton bathrobes are very comfortable and available in cotton terry fabric.
But on the other hand, these robes are made from 100% cotton and hence tend to become too heavy after they are soaked with water. Also due to the cotton fabric, these robes are subject to shrinkage problems.
Bathrobes made from Egyptian Cotton are more supple and smooth to the touch than those made from a cotton blend.
